    Driver Education Duluth Public Schools Both In-Person and Distance Learning Options - Behind the Wheel Included - Winter 2024 dates are to be determined. Program Information: Students must be at least 15 years of age by the last scheduled classroom session. Program consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and six hours of behind the wheel instruction. Class attendance is mandatory (if the student does not complete a full 30 hours of classroom instruction they will not be able to take the permit test). Computer with camera, microphone, and ISD 709 email account is required for the online class only. Students in the online class must participate with mic, as they are called on frequently to assure active participation Classes usually fill up very quickly. You should go to the website before the registration date to create your account or check your current account. Fees: The cost of the full program (classroom and behind the wheel) is $400 and must be paid when registering using Visa, MasterCard or Discover.     Duluth Preschool is a collaboration funded by Head Start, School Readiness, Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten and Early Childhood Special Education. Located in 7 elementary school buildings across the city, Duluth Preschool provides high quality early childhood classroom experiences. We focus on building social emotional skills, language and literacy, health and nutrition, physical health and development for all children.   • Early Childhood Family Education

    Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) recognizes that parents are their child’s first and most important teachers. ECFE offers parents hands-on learning experiences and parenting discussions that will nourish a lifetime of teachable moments. ALL families are welcome. Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) classes meet once a week. We offer classes at various times and at 4 different locations across Duluth. Together, parents and children, participate in activities and experiences that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical, and language skills. All ECFE classes are taught by licensed early childhood teachers and parent educators to provide the quality education parents are looking for. ECFE teachers use the Parent Education Core Curriculum Framework and Early Childhood Indicators of Progress: Minnesota’s Early Learning Standards provided through the Minnesota Department of Education.
  • Family, Friend & Neighbor (FFN) Sessions

    If you are caring for the children age 5 years and younger of family, friends or neighbors - these sessions are for you! Monthly one-hour sessions will include a circle time with stories, songs, and finger plays. Children and caregivers will participate in activities and experiences that foster children’s social, emotional, cognitive, physical and language skills.
  • K.E.Y. Zone

    K.E.Y. Zone Program K.E.Y. Zone is a collaborative program of the Duluth YMCA and the Duluth Public Schools. The program provides a safe and supervised environment for youth to receive educational support and participate in enrichment activities. Program goals include fostering enrichment and learning, development of life skills, promoting regular attendance in school, and providing year-round opportunities, including summer and break days. The program is located at all nine elementary schools and is for youth in grades K-5 and runs from 2:15pm-6pm. Summer and break day programs are available at select sites for an additional fee.
