  • Behind the Wheel

Behind-the-Wheel Upon completion of classroom instruction and passing the Class D Instruction Permit test, students will be eligible to begin the required 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with our MDE licensed educators. All students that participate in the Duluth Public Schools Driver Education classroom portion will be assigned a behind-the-wheel instructor prior to the last day of classroom instruction. If for any reason your child does not remember his or her assigned behind-the-wheel instructor or the student did not complete classroom instruction with us, please contact the Coordinator of Driver Education. Student pickup for behind-the-wheel instruction will be arranged by the instructor with the student. Please note, if your student fails to give the behind-the-wheel instructor a 24-hour notice of cancellation there will be a $50 fee. Behind-the-wheel lessons will not continue until the fee is paid in full. This can be paid via cash or check given to your student's Behind the Wheel teacher. If you drop the class after starting, there will be no refund issued.
