  • Basic Navigation with a Map and Compass

    In this hands-on class, we will learn the basics of maps, compasses, and using them together for navigation. This class will have inside and outside components - please note if you have mobility challenges or other needs during registration so that accommodations can be made.
  • CPR/AED Training

    Instructor: Elmer Engman The Emergency First Response CPR and AED training is designed as a “hands on” two-part program to teach CPR on infants or adults and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction (FBAO) to all lay rescuers, particularly those who are expected to respond to emergencies in the workplace and give first aid. In the Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training component, learn how to use the AED machines now available in most public buildings. Wear comfortable clothing. Bring $30 for printed materials, certificate (good for two years) and equipment rental.
  • Caring for Aging Adults

    Instructor: Jolane Sundstrom This class is intended to help adult children that are facing the reality of caring for their aging parents. You may also learn tips for caring for an elderly neighbor or friend. We will look at area services, the home environment, clothing, diet, adaptive devices, and various adjustments to make home a safer, enriching, and more comfortable place to live as one ages. Instructor was an YWCA Adaptive Recreation employee for five years, has taught Pre-CNA skills to adult students, and cared for her own elderly parents in her home and theirs over a ten year period. This old lost tradition is starting to return, as families realize financial benefits, and benefits to their loved ones by home care vs. institutional care. Previous students are invited to come and join the class discussion.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED Traning

    Instructor: Elmer Engman This class adds the additional First Aid Certification component to our CPR/AED class.   • TAI CHI & QIGONG GENTLE EXERCISES

    Instructor: Richie Townsend In this class we will explore a variety of ancient Chinese movements and breathing exercises of Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong. They are geared towards promoting balance, proper breathing, relaxation, better circulation and increased energy. We will practice a variety of walking, standing, and sitting exercises. These gentle exercises are easy to learn and practice, and having fun learning them is the highest priority. Wear loose fitting, comfortable clothes. Enrollment is limited. No class 4/17, 4/18
  • TAI CHI: 24 FORMS

    Instructor: Richie Townsend The Yang Style 24 Forms, also known as Simplified Tai Chi Chuan, contains the essence of Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan. In this class we will learn proper breathing, body alignment, focus of energy, and the choreographed movements of the basic forms. The main priority is to have fun and enjoy movement. The exercises are relaxing and enjoyable with many health benefits. No Tai Chi experience is needed. Wear comfortable, loose fitting clothing. Enrollment is limited. No class 4/17, 4/18.
